11.06.07 Declaration of Offender Rehabilitation (DOOR)

Background and Objective :

On the occasion of the 50 th anniversary of T he Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention, Hong Kong , we would like to present our Declaration of Offender Rehabilitation (DOOR). DOOR is a global internet campaign aimed at raising public awareness in offender rehabilitation. Following the kick-off ceremony on 3 June 2007 , we now announce the campaign is open! We are sincerely inviting people around the world to express their support by signing the declaration posted on this website (URL:www.projectdoor.org) . The more support we get, the wider the door will open for offenders to become productive members of society and fully participate in life again.

Once sentences have been completed, both personal and social factors play important roles when rehabilitating and reintegrating offenders into society. Of course, an individual's motivation for self improvement coupled with his or her personal courage to overcome multiple obstacles are of equal importance.

We firmly believe that with your support we will be able to assist many offenders in facing their daily challenges. By signing this declaration you will show your support and make the world a more caring place!
