Mercury III Intensive Support and Preventive Programme for AIDS and Blood Borne Diseases Service / Social Rehab. & Crime Prevention Service
 
Health Education Service consists of four projects of “Mercury III Intensive Support and Preventive Programme for AIDS and Blood-borne Disease”funded by AIDS Trust Fund and “Primary Health Care Service”. “Body-Mind- Spirit Approach” is adopted as the intervention model to provide holistic care to target service users.
 
Missions
 
The spirit of Mercury III is to deliver preventive education with initiative care to the target populations.

- Prisoners
- Drug abusers (including non-Chinese)
- Sex industry workers and their clients
- Men who have sex with men
- Non-Chinese clients
 
Scope of Services
 
Project Together We Care Hearts Behind Bars - Health Education for the Inmates :

- AIDS and Blood Borne Diseases preventive education services for the inmates under custody of Correctional Service Department and Immigration Department
- Health talks, intensive groups and mass educational programmes

 
Project Hotspots Tracking-Health Education and Harm -reduction for Drug Abusing Group at High Risk :

- Health education talks and Voluntary Counseling Test for drug addiction treatment organisations and Hostel units in our organisation
- Outreach service in Methadone Clinics and mutual support groups
- The "No Reused Needles " programme – an outreach service aiming at promoting public hygiene - Recruitment and training for peer supporters in AIDS preventive education for Chinese drug abusers


 

 
Project Care Mobile Net-Health Education for the Sex Workers and Clients  :

- Outreach service(community and internet), group work and individual work for workers in sex industry and their clients in AIDS and Blood Borne Diseases preventive education services
- Distribution of free condoms and lubricants
- Voluntary Counselling and Testing (including HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis B & C)

      

 
Project Member Special Mission – Health Education for men who have sex with men :

- Outreach service(case, internet, group and community) for men who have sex with men in AIDS and blood-borne diseases preventive education
- Participation and collaboration in community activities to provide health education for public
- Distribution of free condoms and lubricants
- Voluntary Counselling and Testing (including HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis B & C)

 
Voluntary Counseling and Testing Service  :

- Free, confidential and anonymous Voluntary Counseling and Testing service on HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and C antibody by trained staff
- Pre and post-test counseling
- Referral and escort service
